Matt has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 12 years and has held his black belt for 2 years, awarded by Wil Horneff — himself a black belt under Ralph Gracie. That lineage runs through everything taught on our mats: technical, pressure-based jiu-jitsu that works for everyone, regardless of size or athleticism.
Outside the gym, Matt has spent 14 years in law enforcement, including time as a defensive tactics instructor. That background shapes how he teaches: practical, direct, and grounded in what actually works when it matters.
Matt believes jiu-jitsu is for everyone — not just competitors. His goal is to help every student become sharper, stronger, and more well-rounded, on the mat and off.
